Rising Unapologetically
Hi! My name is Antonio Camacho Martinez.
I’m not the fitness professional you see on magazine covers,
I'm the one who decided to rewrite the whole damn story for myself.
With Puerto Rican heritage; I’m a gay, 5'1" latino male, navigating life with the resilience of a two-time kidney transplant warrior. My journey shaped by my identity, as I rise unapologetically, challenging stereotypes of what it means to be the "ideal" healthy American gay male. In 2018, I carried 230 lbs of deep insecurity, feeling disconnected from health and masking a chaotic lifestyle. The thought of fulfilling a truly healthy life, especially with my transplant history, felt forever out of reach.
The Radical Process:
Reclaiming My Body
The pandemic became my unexpected, radical catalyst. Forced into isolation, I embraced the simplicity of walking four miles to work daily, turning that time into a canvas for mindfulness and curiosity. Fitness quickly shifted from being about losing weight to an act of resistance—a fierce opportunity to interrogate and reclaim my body. Resistance training became a path to self-discovery, and cardio, a new way to explore. This process proved that being brown, gay, and a transplant patient wasn't a limitation, but the very foundation of my power and truest self.
